I dont seem to be able to get the Frank Sinatra song... I got you..under my skin..out of my head:-)
anyway, im just back from a run and im going to blame the heat for my lack of fitness
that you're really a part of me...ive got you under my skin....
i said to myself...

yups..so thats my day...im trying to read this book about Cambodia and Pol pot...but its so heavy that i am barely crawling through it...and instead am spending time watching stupid telly programmes...maybe i should find a book that has a bit of pace to it.....

the football is starting again...which is good...but i will miss the first week of it because i am going to be in Canada on a holiday....i got lucky..and upgraded..so going to see what travelling nicely is about...

random though..why do i get so much junk mail...more junk that anything legit..
i'd sacrifice anything .....for the sake of having you near...
a warning voice comes in the night and repeats..in my ear

its a nice strange calm right now....and i dont really have anything interesting to say.....too tired to think or argue about anything...
except that Warren Buffet has endowed the Gates foundation with 3bn dollars to spend every year...what i would give to be on the committee that plans who gets the money...you could really do something with that...

i need to watch the films that prash got me....did i talk abt them..dont think so..lets see..the first one is called Snakepit and it stars Olivia de Havilland...she won an oscar for it and its about the way people are treated in mental hospitals in the 50s? very difficult to find...not a film lying around

and another one was Brief Encounter..which has just been re released..its about a man and a woman who find happiness together..but cant be together because they are already married...feature of the film is the score by Rachmaninov( is that how you spell it?)....
its terribly sweet that he went to all the trouble to find the films..and more than that offer to watch them with me...i like old films by the way....havent watch some in a while...but the history of cinema is a passion....
dont you know you fool.....wake up to reality.....because i got you under my skin...

Lets see now...so far my holiday..
1) I have been to Italy for 3 weeks plus
2) I have been to Cambodia for a few days
3) Someone certified me as a PADI Open Water diver

so i think all in all, its been pretty busy

The diving was amazing
we did some theory, so i had a text book to memorise
and then after that a pool session, where i discovered that i go loco when i remove my mask underwater..i tend to try to breathe in with my nose and cough and splutter...you see the problem is that one cant surface immediately at low depths, cos you might do yourself an injury
after that, we went off to Tioman for two days to finish up 4 dives that would certify us...
we leave on friday and only get to the resort( that is the word for the place we stayed in with its holes in the floor) at 2am....get up at 9 to start diving and then the next day in bed at 11 30 and up at 6 30...so i dont know if i would necessarily call this a holiday
anyway, on day 1 it was skills day where you sit down in 6m deep water and practice fun things that will save your life if there is a crisis...things like getting out of the water if you run out of air and clearing your mask of water( my old nemesis...still in full force...the logic is...if you swallow water it isnt going to kill you as long as you clear the mask eventually)....
the first time i went down, didnt put any anti-fog on my goggles so i couldnt see anything .. didnt think that there were fish in the bottom.
then i put some on and the next time got to see a school of fish swim past me as well as two sea urchins which were trying to attack us...they also saw a crab called a ....cant remember but i thought it was an eel and stayed away..stupid me...
also got to see a bit of coral with fish....
so that was day one.....the visibility in tioman is bad...you can only see abt 2-3 m down....
on the next day we actually did proper dives...
the first one we went down to see some ship wrecks ....i was a bit disappointed that they werent natural but artificially sunk to create a dive site..but there were so many things growing on them and fish living happily there.... and the glimpse of a wreck is so eerily calm like in a movie....the bow of the boat and then going arnd the side where you can see the decaying body and we swam between two boats...being careful not to hit on .... that kind of thing..and there was a massive school of fish that came swimming with us..right next to me...in a school....now that was really nice....

then we went to another dive sight which is supposed to have a resident reef shark..but the silly fellow wasnt in at the time we went to visit...a bit disappointed...according to our instructor, sharks in cold water tend to attack more that warm water fellows...so this shark was harmless....
but i did get to see a large marine turtle...so cool....and clams...and starfish...as well as clownfish and sea anemones( all that symbiosis from p5)
fish...schools and schools of them..in an out of coral...down there its the same as up here....except the corals are the trees...
and fun fact of the day, turtles teeth can chew through coral

was amazing...but i am really tired....do you know that all the dive equipment weighs something like 15 kilos dry?
and you have to lug it up when its wet...and assemble everything as well carefully..so there is no rest
and by the way, i am now the proud owner of my own prescription mask..because i would be blind in the water without it...
i think i want to go diving again...and..again....
